Working out how much wallpaper a wall needs is where most projects go wrong — and it is not really a calculation about area. Wallpaper hangs in whole vertical panels, so what matters is how many panel widths fit across your wall, and which panel length covers your ceiling height without wasting half of it.
The panel
Every Carta Noor panel is 76 cm (30 in) wide. Length comes in four options, and the price scales with length so a lower wall costs less:
- 244 cm (96 in) — for walls up to about 2.35 m
- 274 cm (108 in) — for walls up to about 2.65 m
- 305 cm (120 in) — for walls up to about 2.95 m
- 366 cm (144 in) — for walls up to about 3.55 m
How the quantity is worked out
Across: divide your wall width by 76 cm and round up. A 240 cm wall takes four panels, not three and a bit — panels hang in whole widths, so there is no such thing as three-quarters of a panel.
Length: we take the shortest panel that covers your wall height plus about 5 cm for trimming top and bottom. A 260 cm wall takes the 274 cm panel rather than the 305 cm one, which is roughly 10% less paper and 10% less cost on every panel of the run.
A worked example: a wall 240 cm wide by 260 cm high needs four panels at 274 cm. Walls of different heights in the same room are supplied in different lengths, so nothing is over-ordered.

If your wall is complicated
Doors, windows, sloped ceilings, chimney breasts and returns all change the arithmetic, and it is usually cheaper to ask than to guess. Send us your dimensions and we will send back a panel schedule — length, count per wall, and the order they hang in. Trade specifiers can send dimensioned elevations and we will do the same.
Before committing to a wall, order a sample. It is 76 × 51 cm, large enough to read the pattern at proper scale, and it ships free worldwide. Tape it up and look at it in morning light and again under a lamp at night — screens are backlit and wallpaper is not.
