Printed means printed. Gold in our designs is a printed colour, not gold leaf or foil. Carved, inlaid and stone looks are printed on a flat, matte surface — and every product page says so.

Carta Noor is a small wallpaper studio in Budapest. We started in 2025 with one stubborn idea: the ornament of Persia and the wider Islamic world belongs on the walls people live with today — not only in museums, on postcards or behind glass.

Where it comes from
The studio was founded by someone who grew up with Persian art. Tilework, carpets and the illuminated pages of old books were part of home long before they were ever reference material.
That is where our patience for detail comes from: why a border has to turn a corner without breaking, why a manuscript rose has exactly the petals it has, why so much of this art is built on mirror symmetry. Get those things wrong and a pattern looks like a copy of a copy. Get them right and it comes alive on a wall.

Paper that carries light
Carta is paper. Noor is the Persian and Arabic word for light. Put together, the name is the brief we give ourselves for every design: paper that brings light and story into a room.

How a Carta Noor design is made

Study. Every design starts from a real tradition — Safavid manuscript illumination, Mughal stone inlay, Moroccan zellige, Nasrid and Mamluk geometry, Ottoman tile — and from how its makers actually built it.

Compose. Each design is new, composed in the studio in that tradition — never a copy of a historical object. Symmetry is checked, repeats are engineered to meet cleanly at every seam, and the scale is set for 76 cm panels.

Colour. Palettes are tuned for real rooms — oak, linen, stone, brass, evening light — rather than for a screen.

Print. Every order is printed to order in the European Union on premium non-woven paper with water-based, low-odour inks, in three finishes: non-pasted, pre-pasted or peel and stick.

Pack. Panels are numbered in hanging order, rolled and sent in a protective tube.

What we promise — and what we won’t pretend
See it before you commit. Screens are unreliable with colour, so order a printed sample first: 76 × 51 cm, the full width of a panel. Live with it for a few days in your own light. The sample is paid; postage is free.
Free shipping worldwide on every order, panels and samples alike. Orders are printed for you and dispatched within 5–7 working days.
If something arrives wrong, we put it right. Damaged or misprinted panels are replaced — send us photos within 7 days of delivery. EU customers also keep their 2-year statutory guarantee.

Carta Noor is new. You won’t find hundreds of reviews here yet, and we will never invent them. What we can offer instead is a direct line to the studio. Write to us before you order — about scale, colour, or how many panels your wall needs — and a person, not a bot, will answer, usually within one working day.
