The Pattern

Romanesque Archway Architectural Luxury Wallpaper draws on the visual language of pre-Gothic European ecclesiastical architecture — the rounded arches, heavy columns, recessed mouldings and soft stone tones of Romanesque churches and cloisters built between the 10th and 12th centuries. Where Gothic architecture reaches upward with pointed arches and elaborate tracery, Romanesque architecture is grounded and horizontal: thick walls, semicircular openings, and a palette of limestone, sandstone and shadow. This design translates that vocabulary into a trompe-l’œil surface pattern, using tone and shadow to suggest a sequence of rounded arches and columns receding into the wall. The palette is deliberately restrained — warm stone, cool grey and soft shadow — calibrated to work with both traditional and contemporary furniture schemes without imposing a period character.

Production & Installation

Printed in the European Union on a premium non-woven substrate using water-based, low-odour inks. The surface is washable and dimensionally stable. Panels are printed and numbered to ensure accurate alignment of each arch and column across drops. Panel width is 76 cm. A sample is recommended to assess how the tonal shadow work reads in your specific lighting — the three-dimensional quality of the pattern is significantly affected by the direction and intensity of light in the room.
